Support the Choir

THree Great ways to help the choir

Here are three great ways you can support the choir and help us continue to perform concerts, both in our home of Tabernacle Chapel Morriston as well as travelling to other communities across South Wales.

Become A PAtron

Tabernacle Morriston Choir continues to provide a strong cultural presence in the community and is the second longest established mixed choir in Wales.
As with most charitable organisations, funding is needed to provide support for the Choir’s ongoing and rising expenses and is a lifeline for its future stability.
Can you help us directly by becoming an active patron or by making a one-off donation?

To become a Patron costs only £20 per year. For this you would have a reserved seat for our concerts in Tabernacle Chapel and a free programme.

Swansea Council Cultural Recovery Fund

The choir was very pleased to receive notification of the grant award from the Cultural Recovery Fund for our performance of Handel’s Messiah that took place 4 th December 2022 in our home chapel, Tabernacle in Morriston. This was the first concert performed by the choir since December 2019, the last time we performed Messiah.
In the intervening period the usual Annual and fund raising concerts have not taken place and rehearsals largely online. It is fair to say that singing again as a choir in Tabernacle, ably accompanied by Mr Phillip Aspden at the grand chapel organ was a truly emotional experience for all involved. Distancing was observed and the audience were both distanced and the majority wearing masks for the duration of the performance and two short interludes. The concert ran from 7pm – 9pm and was very positively received by the audience with a standing ovation. The soloists and accompanist were excellent and gave the choir the energy to draw out a great performance.
An amateur recording of the concert was made and conveys the enthusiasm of the performance. We are very grateful to the generosity of The City and County of Swansea for setting up this fund. It will go a long way to allowing us to look forward to this year’s planned concerts, including our
144 th Annual Concert on Saturday 18 th June at Tabernacle.
